General Foot Care Advice

“What if I need advice before my appointment?”

We understand that sometimes our patients need a little help with their feet before we can bring them into the clinic. Perhaps you’re on our waitlist and need to know how to salt bath your feet in the meantime? Or maybe you want to know how you can spot a verruca.

We have put together a general advice page for exactly this reason! And if you have a question that isn’t on here, give us a call and we will do our best to help you find the answer!

Salt Baths

To salt-bath your feet, fill a clean container with enough warm water to cover your feet, and add 1 tablespoon of salt. This can be table salt, or Epsom salts if you prefer. After the footbath, gently dry your feet and moisturise – we recommend using CCS cream, it’s the one we use in the clinic!

Verrucas

Verrucae appear on the bottom of the feet, whereas warts appear on the tops of the feet or the hands. Verrucae can be painful in some instances and are usually characterised by black dots. They are caused by a virus and can spread via contaminated surfaces or direct skin contact.

If you have any abnormalities on your feet, it’s probably worth getting them checked anyway, to be on the safe side!
